The meeting started on a sodden track following a 4 o'clock downpour and passing proved problematic in the early stages. Robbie Kessler showed Sean a clean (sic) pair of heels in heat 1 and turned left on Andy from the starting gate in heat 5. He retired from the rerun and then ran two last places as the Potters went out of shape. Paul Clews failed to beat a Sheffield rider. Paul Pickering romped home in heat 3 and claimed a maximum tactical ride in heat 7, but thereafter failed to trouble the Tigers heat-leaders. He did battle back past James on the 3rd bend in heat 10 after James had audaciously swooped past on the previous bend. Alan Mogridge trailing the field in heat 2 must have seen Andy Moore nearly overcook the last bend on the 3rd lap. In his enthusiasm to seize on the opportunity he went one better, but was praised by the ref for quickly remounting. He passed Ben Wilson to claim a 1-8 in heat 7 but was passed by James and then Andy in his last two outings. Jan Stæchmann scorched home in heat 4 but was passed by both Sean and James in heat 6 and didn't beat a Sheffield rider after that. Rob Grant was unbeatable in his brief spell with the Prowlers last year so it's difficult to understand why he was so poor, although Daniel Giffard made him look good.

Following a shakey start on a sticky track the Tigers brushed aside the 16 point deficit and two jokers to trounce a Stoke septet who must have fancied their chances, if not for a win then certainly for the bonus. They started to believe in themselves after James blasted around Jan on the last lap of heat 6. Sean was never troubled after his first race defeat. James picked himself up after falling in heat 1 and thrilled the crowd with some breathtaking swoops. Ricky looked solid. Andy settled down nicely after bouncing off the fence in heat 3, and picking himself off the track after a spot of first bend bunching in heat 5. André suffered a puncture this week but finished strongly. Richard rode very well for his paid 9 points but Ben Wilson caught the eye tonight. He won heat 2 on a tricky surface in a faster time than Robbie had recorded when beating Sean in the previous heat. Heat 11 saw Ben take the lead and once André had passed Robbie and Paul Clews he then sat on Ben's back wheel to shepherd him home. The groans of dismay when Ben's engine expired with half a lap to go must have echoed all around S6.

After overturning such a big deficit the Tigers have just built another layer on the battlements of fortress Owlerton!
