John Jorgensen sped from the tapes in heat 1 and even André couldn't get close enough to mount a challenge for the lead but the points were shared as Glenn Cunningham only made it to turn 2. Ben Wilson went around Danny Hughes on the second lap but had to follow Jamie Smith home in heat 2 although James was the comfortable winner. Glenn's bike failed again at the start of heat 3 allowing Andy and Ricky to romp home ahead of Neil Collins. André won heat 4 from the ever pressing Paul Fry and Ben Wilson's persistence paid off as he pressured Jamie Smith into making a slight slip on the last turn allowing Ben to snatch third place right on the line. Ricky stormed away to win heat 5 but Andy Moore rode a superb inside line to pass John Jorgensen extending the Tigers lead to 12 points. Drama in heat 6 as Richard Hall found more drive than he was expecting out of turn two. Although he got his front wheel back down he cannoned off the fence and careered onto the centre green before regaining control, earning an exclusion in the process. James shed a chain in heat 7 but Glenn did manage 4 laps on his second bike.

Neil Collins was given the b&w helmet colour in heat 8 and responded by rounding Ben Wilson on the last lap to claim a 6 point win. Ricky passed Paul Fry with a sweet inside line out of turn 2 with Andy collecting the other point in heat 9, and André passed Glenn on the third turn and Richard Hall followed suit on the fourth in heat 10. Two rider replacements in heat 11; Andy Moore in for Sean, and Jamie Smith in for Matt Read, and they were both excluded for exceeding the time allowance! John Jorgensen (on a tactical ride) flew past Ben Wilson out of turn 2 to claim another 6 points and the Tigers lead was pegged back to a dozen. Paul Fry was given a tactical substitute ride in heat 12 but with Ricky winning from hard chasing Neil Collins, Ben Wilson rode a tidy line and looked like preventing Paul getting any extra points until his bike expired with just over half a lap to go!

John Jorgensen claimed heat 13 with a tapes to flag win but rider replacement Richard Hall impressed with a sweet inside move passing Paul Fry on the third lap to share the heat. Andy Moore failed to get off the line at the start of heat 14 and Glenn Cunningham chased down James Birkinshaw and passed him exiting turn 4 on the third lap. Undeterred James cut back to the inside line out of turn 2 and reclaimed the lead on the inside of turn 3, just managing to hang on to the finish line. Neil Collins destroyed the starting tapes, and then John Jorgensen was left standing at the start of heat 15 leaving Ricky and André an easy 5-1 over Danny Hughes, except the gremlins struck yet again with André grinding to a halt at the start of lap 3. Not a classic meeting but the 12 point margin should make for a lively return leg in Somerset. Rider replacement for Sean claimed 9 points but I still think a guest would be the better option as reliability and tyre wear issues are minimised.
