Great return to track... I don't know if it was complacency on the Tigers part, or whether the Diamonds had been read the riot act, but the opening heats were dominated by the visitors who were gating like the clappers. Scott Nicholls (making a rare appearance at Owlerton) spent three laps in last place looking at different lines before picking off Robert Lambert out of turn two on the last lap of heat 1. Jan Graversen sped from the tapes to win heat 2 while Georgie Wood traded second place with Ben Hopwood for four laps, only for Ben to trap him on the inside of the last bend while Alfie Bowtell swooped around the pair of them and snatch second place. Josh Bates only managed to get to the third bend in heat 3 with Stuart Robson holding Lasse Bjerre at bay to take the win. Heat one winner Ryan Douglas made another lighting start in heat 4 and knows Owlerton well enough to stay ahead of hard chasing Kyle Howarth. Robert Lambert flies into the lead and isn't troubled by Lasse to win heat 5 and the Diamonds open a six point lead.

Scott powered around Stuart Robson on the pits tun of the first lap to win heat 6. Kyle and Jan trapped in heat 7 and demonstrated perfect team riding to deny hard pressing Stuart Robson. Ryan won heat 8 with Todd Kurtz and Jan sharing the points. Lasse and Josh trapped ahead in heat 9. Robert tried lots of different lines but to no avail. Ashley Morris led heat 10 as far as the second bend when Scott powered past him. Todd held onto third place until Stuart powered around him on the second bend on the last lap and in a tightly contested last bend snatched second place from Ashley. Tigers have battled back and now lead by four points.

Kyle trapped to win heat 11. Lasse led heat 12 with Jan chasing Stuart in second place. Jan passed him wide off the pit turn at the end of lap two but Stuart returned the courtesy on the second bend of lap three. Kyle got a flyer to win heat 13 with Scott Nicholls untroubled in second. Josh rounded the field to lead down the back straight in heat 14 with Jan chasing hard on Ashley's exhaust. Jan built up speed with a wide swoop (honestly) at the end of the third lap and dived past Ashley into the first turn on the last lap, only for Ashley to go wide himself and re-take second place out of the second turn. Kyle got a flyer in heat 15 and Lasse scraped the fence to join him down the back straight. Ryan chased but the Tigers rode high and wide for another maximum heat win.
