It looked as if the decision to dispense with a guest and employ rider replacement to cover for Sean might have backfired as the quick starting Falcons reduced the Tigers lead to a mere 3 points after heat 8, but with consecutive 5-1's in the last 2 heats the final margin of victory was 19 points.

André breezed past Mark Lemon on the 3rd turn on his way to the fastest time of the season in heat 1, but the grippy track was a bit of a handfull for the youngsters. Nick Simmons only made it to the second turn in heat 2 and although it wasn't a nasty looking fall it resulted in him breaking his thumb. Birko fell in the restart but remounted to pick up the odd point. Andy Moore passed Seemond down the back straight in heat 3, and as André won heat 4 (just 0.1 outside Mark Loram's track record) Michael Coles failed to challenge Ben Wilson at the back. Ricky made a lightning start to heat 5 but Andy, chasing Graeme Gordon, got it all wrong on the final turn of the 3rd lap and only just managed to hold off Mark Lemon. Michael Coles problems continued in heat 6 as Richard Hall accelerated past him on the back straight, but Seemond played his joker well to claim 6 points in heat 7 and the Exeter second strings grabbed a shock 1-5 to trail by just 3 points after heat 8.

Heat 9 saw Ricky and Andy winning from the gate, and after Richard Hall trapped in heat 10 even Seemond Stephens had no answer. Ricky and Graeme Gordon traded the lead on every corner for two laps until Ricky pulled clear, and although James battled valiantly he couldn't find his way past Mark Lemon on a tactical ride in heat 11. Seemond did just enough to hold back Ben in heat 12, and although Richard Hall was plunged into heat 13 he was never troubled by Michael Coles and gave Mark Lemon plenty to think about for a couple of laps. Roger Lobb led in heat 14 as far as the 3rd turn where James powered under him, closely followed by Andrew who brilliantly also passed his team mate out of turn 4. André and Andrew got the nominations and with blistering starts sped clear of the Falcons as they both recorded their highest scores of the season, a full 18 point maximum in André's case.

It remains to be seen if 19 is a big enough margin to claim the bonus when we visit Devon in September. Indeed Saturday's visit to Berwick will be the Tigers first away match without Sean. Shielfield Park specialist George Stancl is the guest and the bonus point should be safe and sound, but can the lads raise their game again?
