The meeting came to a premature conclusion after Michael Mitchell and Steven Clarke tangled on the back straight falling heavily and demolishing a long section of the safety fence. Both riders were despatched to hospital immediately, Michael with six broken bones in his hand, and Steven with compound fractures to his tibia and fibula. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery go to both riders.
Subject to confirmation from the Conference League administrator both team managers agreed the result should stand.
