2011 Programme  Shane Parker and Hugh Skidmore give Rusty Harrison a lesson in gating and there is no catching them in heat 1. Simon Lambert and Ashley Birks repeat the lesson in heat 2. Richard Lawson leads heat 3 but Owlerton debutante Simon Nielsen is left trailing. Emiliano Sanchez swoops around Richard on the pits turn to lead by the end of the first lap but Josh Auty just cannot emulate him despite numerous attempts. Entertaining racing though! Lots of contact on the first turn of heat 4 and Comets guest Claus Vissing is left lying by the fence. There is more contact in the restart and Ricky is left trailing the Comets pair and unable to make up any lost ground. Richard is the rider replacement for Peter Kildemand in heat 5 and he and Rusty storm into an unassailable lead which reduces the Tigers lead to just two points.

Claus leads heat 6 and fends off Shane on the third turn to share the heat. Ricky has hurt his arm and has withdrawn from the meeting. Ashley takes his place in heat 7 but makes a poor start and cannot get the better of Simon Nielsen. Ashley is out again in heat 8 and gets a flying start, only for Craig Ackroyd to spoil his fun by calling "all four back". Hugh leads the restart but Claus powers around him at the start of the third lap to take another win. The Comets lead away in heat 9 with Emiliano in hot pursuit. He dives through on the inside of the third turn on the last lap running Claus very wide but Josh is too far behind to benefit from it. Hugh leads down the back straight in heat 2 but has Richard in close company while Shane passes Simon Nielsen on the pits turn and closes quickly on Richard. Shane switches from the wide line at the end of lap 3 to pass Richard on the inside of the first bend on the last lap. Richard scrapes the fence and picks up great drive to reclaim second place and uses the same line on the last two turns to blast around Hugh and snatch the win which maintains the Comets four point lead.

Ashley starts well to lead heat 11 but Simon Lambert is left trailing. Kenny Ingalls and Rusty both pick Ashley off on the back straight and Rusty takes the lead on the pits turn. Simon passes his team mate on the second lap but never looked like catching either of the Comets. After eight consecutive heats won by a visitor it's no surprise to find the Tigers eight points adrift with four heats remaining. Kenny leads heat 12 from Josh and with Simon Nielsen ahead of his namesake it looks like curtains for the Tigers, but Lambo blasts around the pits turn into third place on the third lap and Josh finally makes a pass on the inside of the second turn on the last lap. Shane and Ashley lead heat 13 but Claus is on the case. He dives hard under Ashley but then pulls a locker leaving Ashley no option but to pile into him. There is a lengthy delay while Claus receives medical attention, and even longer while the fence is repaired. Shane and Rusty have a good scrap for a couple of laps in the restart but the Comets lead is further reduced. Richard storms into the lead of heat 14 but compromises his team mate on the first turn. Emiliano is not lacking any confidence tonight and he scythes through on the inside of the third turn to lead on the second lap. Richard moves out wide looking for a way back into the lead but makes a mess of the pits turn and Simon Lambert gratefully accepts second place which leaves the two teams dead level into the last race. Shane and Josh are Eric's nominations for the Tigers to face Rusty and Richard for the Comets. The tension was the highest I can recall for a number of years and you can imagine the groans of dismay when Josh runs into the tapes! With Josh struggling to make just one pass all evening and now starting 15 metres behind the most the Tigers fans could hope for was a draw. Richard Lawson traps ahead but Shane blasts around him and into the lead on the third turn. Rusty follows suit and is all over Shane's back wheel, while lap by lap Josh closes in on Richard in third place. Shane has first place sewn up by the last lap and Josh goes wide into turn thee, cuts back early, gets his wheels in line down the inside of the last turn and just steals the match winning point right on the finish line. The way the home fans erupted you would be forgiven for thinking we'd just won the league!
