The forecast was for showers (sometimes heavy) throughout the day. After a glorious sunny day the showers arrived about 6:00pm with a vengeance! Richard Lawson trapped to win heat 1 and Simon couldn't even get close to him. Ashley Morris trapped ahead in heat 2. Jake drew alongside into turn three but lost ground on the outside and Chris Mills passed him on the inside as they exited the pits bend. Terrible start by Joe in heat 3 and Richard can only follow Kyle Howarth. Chris trapped ahead to win heat 4 and Ricky was passed by Rene Bach on the second turn. Ricky got close to Rene on the third lap but then faded. Richard is on a tactical in heat 5 but the Comets trap ahead. Richard goes very wide on the pits turn and Joe moves into third place briefly. Richard catches but never looks like passing Tero Aarnio. Comets lead by 14 points!

Steady dons the black and white in heat 6. Ashley Morris makes a flying start on one wheel from the outside gate but tumbles off on the first turn. All four back, but he's left standing at the gate in the rerun. Steady is untroubled at the front and Facundo climbs all over Rene's back wheel but can't find a way through. Rusty Harrison leads heat 7 and Kyle barges under Damien on the first bend and all but fences him on turn two. Ricky closes on Rusty but settles for second place on the last lap. Facundo draws level with Chris on the second turn of heat 8 and completes the pass wide into turn three. Jake chases Tero but fell trying too hard on the third lap. Joe makes a decent start(!) alongside Rene in heat 9 and passes him to take the lead out of the pits turn. Richard tries the same manoeuvre on the second lap but Rene takes his line, so Richard dives past on the inside into turn one. Have the Tigers worked out what gearing to use? Steady traps and wins heat 10. Facundo is last away from the tapes but picks off Rusty on the first bend. Rusty gives his all but tumbles into the second bend fence on the last lap. The Tigers are now just 5 points down.

The ref stops heat 11 but Damien collides with Richard on the second turn and falls. Tero leads the restart from Ricky and Damien is dicing with Richard for third until he finds unexpected drive on the pits turn and nearly wheelies into the fence. Ricky gets good drive out of turn two to pass Tero down the back straight. Rusty traps ahead in heat 12 and just holds off a strong challenge by Joe on the first lap. Jake rides a steady line and passes Chris Mills out of turn two on the last lap. The Comets trap ahead in heat 13. Steady waits for his team mate to make the first move on the first lap, but then passes Ricky on the second turn and gives chase himself. In a blistering bit of speedway he sweeps majestically around Rene out of the pits turn and then dives clean past Richard into the first turn to win by half a straight. Shame Ricky couldn't follow suit. Jake replaces Damien in heat 14. It's nip and tuck between Richard and Kyle on the first lap until Richard pulls clear out of turn four. Jake is just ahead of Chris and the Tigers fans are all holding their breath as his vital point sets up an unexpected last heat decider. Simon and Richard are pitched against Richard and Kyle needing a 5-1 to snatch victory. Simon traps and Richard is left trailing the field, but he must have been watching heat 13 because he more or less duplicates his captains heroics picking off both Comets for the narrowest of victories! It will be worth buying the dvd just for those two races!!
