Workington programme cover  The Comets, already missing Ritchie Hawkins who was injured one week previously in their match against Glasgow, were further weakened when Garry Stead was ruled out after his spill at Owlerton on Thursday and they called in Belle Vue's Phil Morris as a guest.

Paul Thorp was called back for an unsatisfactory start to heat 1, but won the rerun from Ricky and Ben. Cooperman goes from a handicap in heat 2 after failing to beat the 2 minute allowance, but Benji loses a chain while in second place on the second lap. Emiliano passes the crazy Pole on the last turn to win heat 3, and André rounds Phil Morris at the end of the second lap to follow Cooperman home for a maximum which gives the Tigers the lead. It's short lived as the crazy Pole once again takes Ricky out on the first turn. It's a Wimbledon score line; 15 all.

Benji replaces Cooperman in heat 6, but Paul Thorp is called back for another of his customary unsatisfactory starts. Benji retires on the second lap and the Comets regain the lead. Emiliano passes the Belle Vue rider at the end of lap 3 to win heat 7 and Kyle's point evens the score line again. Ben leads the way home in heat 8, but Benji again only manages two lap, this time falling on the first turn. André passes the crazy Pole on the second lap to win heat 9, and Kyle blasts around Wright and Thorp to win heat 10. Scores remain tennis style; 30 all!

It's Phil Morris' turn to have a go at Ricky in heat 11, but it's Phil who comes off worse with a dislocated shoulder. It's OK though, they popped it straight back in for him! During the delay Thorpy is interviewed and calls the referee for spoiling his fun in heats 1 and 6. The Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund is another £250 better off as a result :-) Ricky and Ben snatch a big win for the Tigers in the rerun. Kyle passes the crazy Pole to win heat 12, and Cooperman takes a point off the overworked Aidan Collins for a six point lead to the Tigers. André exceeds 2 minutes and takes a handicap in heat 13, won by Wright but shared by the Tigers. Cooperman is excluded following a clash with the crazy Pole in heat 14 who misses the rerun which is won by Emiliano to leave us in an unbeatable position. Wrighty and Thorp win heat 15 for the Comets but it's the Tigers who are celebrating yet another glorious away win.
