The Dons were without Bert Harkins still not recovered from injury, and were awaiting Graeme Stapleton's return from New Zealand which had been delayed as his business partner Ronnie Moore had been badly injured. The SCB had granted them rider replacement facility but Cyril Maidment was adamant that they would use their own assets rather than relying on guest riders. For this Easter Monday meeting against the Tigers (not usually a threat at Plough Lane) they were further weakened by injuries to both Reg Luckhurst and new signing Barry Crowson sustained in the heavy away defeat against Newport at Somerton Park the previous Friday.

Briggo rode unbeaten and Tommy Jansson dropped only 2 points in 6 rides, beaten only by Arnie Haley. For the Tigers Doug Wyer and Reg Wilson claimed one heat win apiece but the difference between the sides lay at reserve with the Tigers running up 16 (paid 21) against the Dons 2.
