Swindon v Sheffield programme from 1985

The Robins having drawn against local rivals Oxford in a challenge, and then crashed out of the KO Cup to Ipswich in the previous two weeks, had an unhappy start to their British League campaign as the revitalized Tigers were never behind. Malcolm Simmons stopped while leading heat 1, Alun Rossiter shed a chain in heat 2, and Phil Crump fell in heat 3 when his engine seized solid leaving the Robins utilizing the tactical substitue rule as early as heat 5!

Les Collins free-wheeled home in heat 1 and then blew his engine in heat 5 but the rest of the Tigers (except Steve Baker) backed up Shawn Moran splendidly with Neil Collins, Peter Carr (not Peter Collins as misprinted in the programme!) and Martin Hagon (twice) taking heat wins.

Ari Koponen dropped to reserve and responded with his best score for weeks, but Bo Peteresen surrendered the Golden Helmet which he had held for just 7 days.
