Somerset programme

Craig off gate 4 rounded Josh Grajczonek on the first bend to take the lead and Andre was close on Leigh Lanham's heels but unable to get past. The track looked well watered after a beautiful hot day. Paul Starke gated to lead heat 2 and Benji Compton passed Josh Bates at the start of the second lap. Arthur Sissis persevered with the inside line and passed both his team mate and Benji by the end of lap 3. Jason Garrity shrugged off Richie Worrall on the first turn of heat 3 and didn't put a wheel wrong on his way to his debut heat win. Ashley wasn't far behind but couldn't mount a challenge. Brady Kurtz and Ty Proctor passed Arthur on the first lap, and then Benji Compton blasted wide around the second bend to move into third place on the last lap. Benji carried so much speed into the third turn he bounced off the fence losing his place back to Arthur in doing so. Josh Grajczonek and Leigh gated in heat 5 and their heat win leaves to Rebels four points ahead.

Benji replaces Paul Starke in heat 6 but Craig Cook flies into the lead. Benji is doing everything he can to keep up with his brother but is getting wilder and wilder before tumbling off on the third lap Charles Wright passes Ty down the back straight to lead heat 7 but Ty keeps the pressure on and reclaims the place on the last lap. Andre passes Arthur to lead heat 8 and Leigh picks Arthur off going into the second lap. Brady gates to win heat 9. Richie Worrall rounds everyone from the outside gate to win heat 10 and not even Craig could catch him. The Tigers have leveled scores at the two-thirds point of the meeting. .

Ty gates to lead heat 11 but Josh G and Leigh breeze past him on the first lap. Richie lead heat 12 with Paul on his tail. Ashley eventually passes Paul at the end of the third lap but Paul repays the compliment  on the last turn. We go into the interval suddenly trailing by eight points! Brady falls on the first turn of heat 13 on the outside of Ty and many refs would have called all four back. Josh passed the Sheffield pair on the back straight in the rerun and Craig was virtually on the greyhound track looking for a way past. Jason led heat 14 but was passed by Charles on the inside of the third turn. Jason closed him down and went for the high and wide blast around the last turn only to find the door slammed in his face. Craig traps to lead heat 15 with Andre passing Josh at the end of the first lap. Josh regains second spot on the next lap only for Andre to dive through on the pits turn. Good race, just a shame the match was already lost.

Thanks to Craig for a good guest appearance. Andre finished the meeting well after a poor start. Ty finished poorly after a good start. Ashley seemed distracted and Josh was very poor. Jason did better than many expected and will hopefully continue to improve with few more meetings under his belt, while Arthur continues to make steady progress looking smooth and in full control.
