Scunthorpe programme

The Tigers dominate early proceedings and despite tactical attempts hold a 12 point lead after 10 heats. Guest Stefan Nielsen and Ryan Douglas are shaping up for a maximum heat win when Stefan locks up on the fourth turn and is hit by his partner. Bruised and shaken Stefan returns in heat 12 to partner Alex Davies home ahead of the previously unbeaten Kyle Howarth, and the Scorpions take another maximum from heat 13 when Josh Auty rides a beautiful fourth lap to pass Simon Stead on the first turn and Dmitri Berge out of the last to follow Ryan Douglas home. Michael Palm Toft retires on the first lap of heat 14 and Stefan holds off persistent challenges from both Josh Bates and Nathan Greaves for a shared heat. The Scorpions now need a 5-1 to force a draw. Alex Davies is sent out to break the tapes and give Stefan extra time to get a breather having ridden in three of the last four heats. Four out of five proved one too many for the youngster who had to watch from the back of the field as Ryan and Simon contested the lead with the visiting captain being vitorious.
