2008 Programme The Scorpions have yet to win a match against the Tigers and were fired up for this (the sixth) encounter. They got off to the perfect start as ex-Tigers Richard Hall and Emiliano Sanchez sped to a 5-1 in the first heat. Joel Parsons was climbing all over Emiliano but the wily Argentinean held him off. Lee Smethills and Ben Powell were neck and neck down the back straight in heat 2 with Lee taking the lead into turn three. Kyle Hughes was very slow from the tapes, caught Byron Bekker by the first turn, but then retired after two laps. André Compton trapped ahead to win heat 3. Lee and Ben Wilson gated ahead and team rode to a 5-1 in heat 4. André led heat 5 with Paul Cooper sneaking under Richard on the second turn. Richard showed how he has matured and weighed up the track before rounding Paul on the second turn of the last lap. After a shaky start the Tigers now lead by four points.

Carl Wilkinson got the drop on Ben to win heat 6 but Joel finished ahead of Byron for a shared heat. Magnus Karlsson started like a rocket to win heat 7 and with Viktor Bergstrom passing Kyle on the second turn the Scorpions halved their deficit. Lee was the early leader of heat 8 with Joel passing Ben Powell on the second turn and rounding his team mate on the pits turn. Paul trapped ahead in heat 9 but André blasted into the lead down the back straight and pulled well clear. Carl passed his team mate on the first lap but couldn't find his way past Paul. Magnus was wearing the black & white for heat 10 but it was Joel who got the drop and settled on the fast wide line. Magnus looked to pass him on the inside at the start of lap three but overcooked it on the second turn leaving the Tigers twelve ahead.

Richard trapped ahead of Ben Wilson to win heat 11 and Ben Powell outpaced Kyle to narrow the gap. After a close first lap it was André who took the chequered flag in heat 12 which he then repeated in heat 13. Kenny Smith still hadn't admitted defeat and he put Richard into heat 14 as a tactical substitute. Lee took the lead from Paul with Viktor Bergstrom (riding Ben Powell's bike) hot on his heels. Paul went too wide at the end of the third lap allowing both Viktor and Richard past but he regained third place when Richard (minus his steel shoe) got out of shape on the second turn. Heat 15 was a farce! The tapes were slow to rise on the outside and snagged Joel's helmet but Barbara Horley penalized Magnus. The other three riders took up revised starting positions expecting Magnus to go from 15 metres. Then it was announced there would only be three starters and Barbara required then to change to their original starting positions wasting even more time. After another two minutes was sounded Magnus reappeared on track ready to go! When the tapes went up Magnus was already flying and he'd caught Joel by the first turn but couldn't find a way past.
