The Tigers visited Ashby Ville in this Inter League challenge and loaned Phil White back to the club he had represented since 1977 and for whom he had been a firm favourite. The Tigers welcomed back Alan Molyneux who was making his return after a long spell out through injury, but had lost Eric Broadbelt whose place was taken by Paul Stead, a Tigers assett currently on loan to National League Wolverhampton.

Mark Fiora was injured in a collision with Rob Woffinden in heat 2 and took no further part, and Rob too withdrew from the meeting after one more ride. The Tigers 4-2 win in heat 13 gave them the lead for the first time after trailling by 9 points earlier in the match. Shawn Moran dropped his only point to Phil White in heat 1, although Phil beat him again in a nip-and-tuck race to win the second half Grand Final.
