Sheffield programme The Scorpions won all three of their matches at Owlerton in 2014 but without Birks, Douglas and Jorgensen who all go well in S6 they proved easy meat for the new look Tigers. Andre flew from the gate to lead heat 1 and Simon rounded David Howe on the pits turn to make it a 5-1. Josh Bates was off and away in heat 2 while Arthur was snapping  at the heels of third place Ellis Perks. As they started the third lap Nike Lunna's bike expired forcing evasive action from the following pair. Ellis took the inside line and second place while Arthur was forced into a very wide entry to turn one. Many Owlerton debutantes would have found themselves in the fence but Arthur should be congratulated on staying upright! Carl Wilkinson dived under Ty to lead heat 3 but Ashley  passed both Ty and Alex on the second lap to share the heat. David Bellego and Arthur trapped ahead in heat 4. Josh Auty caught and passed Arthur on the third lap and Nike followed suite on the last lap. Drama at the start of heat 5 as with less than 1 minute remaining Ashley dropped a chain at the starting gate. He emerged from the pits on Simon's bike with seconds to spare and was untroubled by the Scorpions pair as he followed Ty home for another 5-1 and a ten point lead.

Simon won heat 6 comfortably. Jack Lee elected to switch the Sheffield reserves in heats 7 and 8 and Arthur had no answer to Carl on a tactical ride or Alex but David Bellego took his second win with ease. Andre and Josh Bates led heat 8 until Nike fell trying to pass Josh on the second lap and Theo had to lay his bike down. Andre sped into the lead in the restart but Theo passed Josh on the first lap. Josh Auty rounded Ty on the second turn to lead heat 9 which was stopped after three laps with Alex Davies in the fence on the second turn. Simon and Andre held a commanding lead in heat 10. Just as well as Andre slowed dramatically on the last lap and coasted over the line a split second ahead of Carl. The Tigers lead is now sixteen points!

The Scorpions looked good for a 5-1 of their own in heat 11 until David Howe slowed to a standstill on the second lap. Ashley claimed his first heat win in 12 and with Ellis left at the start gate it meant a gift point for Arthur. Simon sped away to win heat 13 while David Bellego passed his namesake on the third turn to move up to second place. Josh passed his team mate on the second lap and gave chase before passing David Bellego with a blast around the boards off the last turn. Ty and Josh Bates were on a comfortable 5-1 in heat 14 until Nike fell on the second bend while in last place and chose not to get up until the red lights were on. Carl made a brilliant start to win the rerun! Simon won heat 15 from the start. Josh rounded Ashley on the third turn but the 4-2 saw the Tigers winning by a 22 point margin.

Arthur will need track time to learn the ropes but there were plenty of encouraging signs. All 6 other team members took at least one heat win and it will take a good team to beat us around our own track this year.
