Not a great start to the meeting. First Brady Kurtz is pulled back for moving at the start, and then Paco Castagna is pulled back because everyone else was too slow! Third time lucky and Paco leads the way but Brady is at the back. Brady dives through into third place on the third bend and then Josh Grajczonek and Brady both pass Paco on the second bend of lap two. Brady is right on Grajczonek's back wheel and indeed clips it on the second bend, lap three and falls untidily and is trapped under the bike. Josh Bates powers his way to a big lead and his fastest time of the year in heat 2 and Arthur rounds Luke Bowen on the second turn to make it an emphatic 5-1. Bates is straight back out in heat 3 and leaves Robin Aspegren standing. Arthur leads heat 4 from Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen but Jason Garrity earns himself an exclusion as he skittles Nikolaj off on the third turn. In my opinion it was a misjudgment as Jason didn't expect Nikolaj to be entering the corner so slowly! Arthur determinedly trapped again in the rerun, went straight for the fast wide line and equalled the fastest time of the season held jointly by Brady and David Bellego! Jason takes the rider replacement ride in heat 5 and gates ahead of Josh Grajczonek. David Bellego remorselessly closes him down and swoops past him off the pits bend on the last lap. Tigers lead by six, or 'Beethoven' as Chalky would say!
Brady takes heat 6 from tapes to flag but all eyes are on Luke Bowen in third place ahead of Paco. Paco seems reluctant to try an outside pass and Luke holds off his hardest effort on the third tun of lap 3. Josh and Jason are untroubled as they record another 5-1 in heat 7. John Sampford gives rider replacement Nikolaj the tactical in heat 8, and also swaps his reserves. Jack responds by replacing Paco with unbeaten Bates and Josh does precisely what is asked of him while it takes Nikolaj three laps to pass Arthur. David easily outpaces Nikolaj in heat 9 and Arthur came within inches of passing Nikolaj on the run to the finish line. Brady takes an easy win from Robin in heat 10 while Paco is never troubled by Kasper. Tigers lead extended to fourteen.
Jason leads down the back straight in heat 11 with the two Josh's contesting second place. Bates goes through a seemingly non existent gap on the first lap, but the Aussie pulls off a perfect switchback to regain the place on the second lap and that's how they finish. David took a simple win in heat 12 but Arthur had his hands full with both Rockets chasing him down. They passed him simultaneously on the third lap and then team rode to keep him behind. A bit late to try and get into the match isn't it! Brady trapped to win heat 13 but Jason was slowly away and try as he did he couldn't make up the ground. David and Bates lead heat 14 with Josh diving under his team mate into the lead at the start of the last lap. David leads away in heat 15 with Brady at the back. Grajczonek powers past David on the back straight and Brady takes third place from Nikolaj on the pits turn. Brady catches and passes David at the start of the third lap and David seems to be lacking power as Nikolaj also goes past on the last lap.
Nikolai Klindt announced as the temporary replacement for Andre and he's scheduled to make his debut for the Tigers at Derwent Park on Saturday.
