Maximum man... The Rockets were easy meat for the full strength Tigers. David Bellego returned to Owlerton as guest for Ed Kennett and picked up a tactical double points win but only he and Stuart Robson looked capable of challenging the home riders. Jason completed a paid maximum, and only an engine failure denied Steady his.

Incompetent management saw the visitors trying to swap reserves in heat 4, and then trying to replace David Bellego who had stalled at the tapes when Arthur touched them at the start of heat 9.
