Nicky Allot was tracked at no.1 replacing Doug Wyer and he failed to score. Without their top man the Tigers rode well to keep the scores close and it was dead level with 4 races remaining, but three maximum heat wins in the last four heats saw the Pirates romp home as comfortable winners.

Neil Collins and Eric Broadbelt made it to the final sponsored by "Hamworthy Engineering" won by Malcolm Simmons with maximum man Ron Preston last.
