The Rebels were without Gordon Kennett who was riding in the British Semi-Final at Sheffield. Guesting in his absence was his brother Dave.

Bob Valentine got us off to a good start beating home favourite Bob Kilby in heat 1. Richard Greer won the reserves race but Rod Haynes and Craig Pendlebury out paced Pete Jarman to keep the scores level. Dave Kennett was a faller in heat 3. Reg Wilson beat Ulf Lovaas and Arnie Haley's third place gave the Tigers the lead. It was short lived as Richard and John Davis raced to a 5-1 over Craig and Doug Wyer in the next heat.

Bobs Valentine and Paulson leveled the scores with a 4-2 in heat 5. Bob Kilby beat Doug in heat 6 and with John Dews third the Rebels once again took the lead. Richard and John Davis extended the lead with a 4-2 against Reg and Arnie in heat 7 and then Richard and John Dews did the same again ahead of Bob Paulson and Craig in heat 8.

Guest manager Dick Bradbury wasted no time in utilizing Bob Valentine as a tactical substitute in heat 9 and he ushered Doug home for a 5-1. Reg out paced Bob Kilby in heat 10 and Arnie took the last point to level the scores again. In-form and previously unbeaten Richard succumbed to Bob Valentine in heat 11 and Bob Paulson took the last point from John Davis to restore the Tigers lead with just two heats to go.

Doug and Reg combined in a 5-1 over Ulf and Bob Kilby in heat 12 to put the Tigers into an unassailable lead and Bob Valentine beat John Davis in the last heat. The Tigers recovered from 6 points behind after heat 8 to win by 8 points and were first past the post in 8 of the 13 heats.
