Joel Parson leads Paul Cooper  Kevin Doolan is the Wasp's choice of guest for the injured Craig Watson, and he shows a clean pair of heels to Paul Cooper in heat 1 but Ricky takes a big win. Paul is out again in heat 2 and has to concede to fast trapping Joel Parsons (picture on left). Benji does enough to finish third ahead of Billy Legg. Chris Schramm, Kyle Legault & Neil CollinsEmiliano and Kyle are the first to show in heat 3 leaving the Wasps pair in their wake and scrabbling for the odd point (pictured right and below left). André won heat 4 at the canter but Benji falls in last place, just managing to clear the track and obviously suffering with his knee. The Wasps pair take the lead in heat 5. Emiliano makes no attempt to pass Tony Atkin so Kyle sweeps past on the pits turn and has a go himself. He is right on Tony's tail for the second lap and burst through on the first turn of lap three, but Kevin has an unassailable lead. The Tigers lead by 4 points.

Nice formation. Squadron leader Compton would approve! Ricky and Paul lead away in heat 6 but Carl Wilkinson (pictured below right) has other ideas and powers around Paul at the end of the second lap. André makes it look so easy again winning heat 7 but Benji is just the opposite and retires from last place. Paul out gates Joel in heat 8 but pulls up before the first bend. Kyle sweeps to the front, race over. Emiliano and Kyle team ride to a comfortable win in heat 9, and Emiliano is out again as rider replacement in heat 10 following Ricky home for another 5-1. Neil Collins passes Chris Schramm on the last bend to steal the odd point. The Tigers lead now stands at 14 points.

Paul Cooper, Carl Wilkinson & Joel Parsons Kevin Doolan is on a tactical in heat 11 but he cannot match André's pace. Paul keeps the pressure on Tony Atkin but hasn't the speed to make the pass. Emiliano leads away in heat 12 and Chris Schramm goes around Paul on the second turn. The Tigers 'big guns' are out in heat 13 and André leads the way. Kevin and Ricky are locked together for three laps before Ricky makes a fantastic pass on the first turn on the last lap. Neil Collins is in the black & white in heat 14, but it is Kyle and Paul who show first with Joel in hot pursuit. Neil seems exasperated that Joel doesn't cede to him and retires. Heat 15 is a repeat of heat 13, in more ways than one. André again leads from Kevin with Ricky climbing all over him. Ricky keeps him guessing and this time passes him on the outside of turn 2 on the second lap. Brilliant racing from Ricky who is currently experiencing a real purple patch of form.

The Wasps made a good start to this match and only trailed by 6 points after heat 8. The killing blow came in the last three heats as the Tigers took consecutive 5-1's to finish with a 26 point lead to defend on Sunday. The Wasps have had bigger home wins than that of late, but the Tigers are on a roll and must be considered favourites to progress.

Only six riders competed in the second-half races. Jamie Pickard withdrew after a fall in his second ride leaving Grant Hayes to win the 'B' final from Gareth Isherwood. Tai Woffinden ran out the convincing winner of the 'A' final ahead of Joe Haines and David Speight. Tai's time in the final on the by now very slick track was faster than Kyle's winning time in heat 14!
