The Provincial League Champion won heat 3 (creating a new track record!) with Jack Kitchen and John Dews sharing the heat. Bill Andrew won heat 4 but Feathers and Alan Jay kept the scores level once again. Ivan beat Tommy Roper in heat 5 andRuss Dent beat Ron Bagley to put the Diamonds ahead. Pete Kelly beat Featherby in heat 6 with Goog Allen third to extend their lead.Mike Watkin fell challenging the Tigers in heat 7 but Jack Kitchen and John Dews took a 5-1 to level the scores again. Tommy Roper took a heavy fall in heat 8 and had to withdraw from the meeting. Alan Jay rode out of his skin to win the restart. Ivan beat Feathers once again in heat 9 and fellow Kiwi Maury Robinson finished third to reinstate the Diamonds lead. John Dewswon heat 10 from Peter Kelly and Jack Kitchen's third place leveled the scores again. Mike Watkin won heat 11 from Alan Jay butRon Bagley trailed home last and the Diamonds edge back in front. Ivan wins heat 12 from Jack Kitchen but Pete Kelly's third place means the Tigers need a 5-1 to force a draw from the last heat. Mike Watkin suffers engine problems and John Dews takes the win, but Maury Robinson beats Ron Bagley and the Diamonds have won.

Tommy Roper took the Silver Sash when Ivan fell at Owlerton. Ivan got it back by default with Tommy unable to defend it. JackWinstanley won the reserves race and Ivan was the only home rider to make it to the senior final, but wouldn't you know, he won it.
