Sheffield v Long Eaton, 27th May 1965 Injury hit Long Eaton had persuaded Norwich's precocious talent Terry Betts back into the saddle. In his first match, despite a fall in his second ride, his 8 points helped inspire the Archers to a much needed win over Glasgow. His second match away at Poole saw him test the safety fence and the resultant ankle injury brought the curtain down on his Arches career. His place against the Tigers was taken by Ken Adams with Eric Minall who had previously retired from Exeter in 1953 drafted in at reserve.

A maximum from Jack Kitchen and two wins apiece by Clive Feathery and Billy Bales, coupled with seven second place finishes steered the Tigers to an away win.
