Silver Sash Match Race
Arnold Haley (Holder)2nd
Terry Betts (Stars top-scorer)1ST
75.2

Maury Littlechild's programe notes alluded to the Tigers recent KO Cup win at Belle Vue and Arnold Haley's current form and said they couldn't afford to give an inch if they wanted the league points.

There was little between the sides prior to the Stars taking the lead in heat 5. It was short lived though as Howard Cole fell in heat 6 and with Clive Featherby experiencing machine problems the Tigers were gifted a 5-0.

Of the remaining seven races five of them were drawn heats but Arnold Haley and John Dews took 4-2's in heats 7 & 12 to steer the League points back towards South Yorkshire!

Terry Betts took the Silver Sash from Arnie in the second half and the senior final was a whitewash for the Stars heat leaders.
