The track was well watered by a downpour about 2 hours before the start but looked in good nick. Shane Parker and Josh Grajczonek made a fantastic start to heat 1 and Josh baulked Ricky Ashworth's challenge around the outside of the second turn. It looked like the visitors were going to start with a maximum as Josh stuck to his line with Ricky pressing on the inside as they started the last lap but he was robbed of second place when his bike packed in on the third turn. Scott Smith made a great start to lead heat 2 and Hugh Skidmore chose to follow him home for a useful 5-1. Richard Hall led heat 3 but Joel fell on the second lap and retired from the back of the field. James Grieves took a tapes to flag win in heat 4 but Lee Dicken was well off the pace. Hugh tried to pass James for four laps without success. Josh Auty only got into contention on the last lap and found himself tripping over his team mate. Richard rounded the field to lead down the back straight and Joel dived past Josh Grajczonek on the third turn to join him. Shane Parker passed his team mate at the start of the second lap and started to wear down Joel who he passed on the pits turn at the end of the third lap. Joel fought back with an inside pass on the first turn but Shane reciprocated on the third turn to hold onto second. Great race and Sheffield have a six point lead.

James made another good start to lead heat 6 from Ricky but Chris fell on the second turn. After two laps looking for a way past on the inside Ricky went out wide and immediately lost 20 metres. James was very pleased with himself gesticulating to the fans on the victory lap. William Lawson made a great start to lead heat 7 from Scott. Josh Auty took three laps to pass his team mate and ran out of laps to catch William. Josh Grajczonek led from tapes to flag to win heat 8 but Hugh and Mitchell Davey were right on his exhaust all the way. Richard beat James into the first turn in heat 9 and Joel passed James on the inside of turn two to go third. Joel then dived under Mitchell on turn three, but was carrying too much speed and went very wide on turn four allowing both Glasgow riders to pass him. He dived straight back past James at the start of the second lap and was just shaping up to blast around Mitchell on the last lap when his bike packed in! Terrace team managers were surprised that neither Hugh nor Scott were given a reserve ride in place of struggling Chris in heat 10. Ricky trapped ahead of William to lead but Chris started badly and never even tried to get past Sandi Conda. Sheffield's lead has been whittled down to two points. Given the way Glasgow finished the Premier Trophy match earlier this year it is beginning to look glum.

The visitors gated ahead in heat 11 but Josh Grajczonek had a big problem on the second turn and ended up last. William leads heat 12 from hard working Hugh and Joel passes Mitchell on the third turn. Hugh goes for an inside pass at the start of the last lap but William blocks him firmly but fairly. Ricky and Josh face Shane and James in heat 13, a race which went in the visitor's favour back in April. A three man scrap ensues with Ricky just holding the lead from Shane and Josh Auty right on their heels. Shane goes for the wide line on the last lap and Josh dives through on the inside to send the home fans wild with delight. Richard takes an easy win in heat 14 and Scott easily outpaces Lee Dicken to secure the home win. Richard completes his full maximum in heat 15 with Ricky team riding him home ahead of William with Shane a disinterested last.
