Sheffield programme An untroubled maximum from Steady led the Tigers to their first league points of the season. Taylor Poole followed his skipper home ahead of Kevin Wolbert in heat 1 but he destroyed the tapes in his second outing and then broke down while well placed in his third. Leigh Lanham started with three solid second places before passing Kasper Lykke Nielsen to win heat 12 ahead of the impressive Anders Thomsen. He deserved the nomination for heat 15 but was unable to catch the Glasgow powerhouse after a poor start. Andre Compton followed Leigh home in his first three rides before thrilling the fans as he hunted down and then blasted around Rusty Harrison on the last lap of heat 14. Ty Proctor had to move to gate 2 after Josh touched the tapes in heat 4 and he trapped well to claim his first win for the Tigers. He team rode with Simon Neilsen to keep Rusty at bay in heat 7 and was unfairly penalized 15 metres in heat 11. He made a good start at the first attempt while the other three were so slow, and the second time he and Kevin Wolbert both reacted quickly and to my eyes the referee made a poor decision. Ty made amends by passing Kevin Wolbert out of turn two to follow his skipper home in heat 13. Simon Nielsen rode above his average without attracting much attention while Josh caught the eye with some sparkling rides before pulling out of heat 12.

The visitors were virtually a two man team and easy prey for the home Tigers. It will be very interesting to see how they go at Armadale, and indeed at home next week when the Scorpions are back in town.
