The Tigers won their first major trophy since the formation of the British League with a convincing second-leg victory in front of their home supporters. The writing was on the wall for the 'Witches' following the Tigers first-leg win at Foxhall Heath the previous day but a good solid performance from all bar skipper Bob Paulson ensured the silverware came to South Yorkshire.
This was the end to a highly successful cup campaign for the Tigers who won every meeting home and away en-route to victory. They defeated the Hull 'Vikings' in the first round by 92-64, the Newport 'Wasps' 89-67 in round 2, and the Poole 'Pirates' 86-69 in the semi-final.
The second half final was won by Reg Wilson, from Bob Valentine, John Louis and Carl Glover. Brian Havelock's place in the Junior event was taken by Taffy Owen who finished second to Rodney Haynes, and ahead of Nicky Allott and Les Glover.
