With Shawn back States-side fulfilling a domestic commitment our guest for the evening was Belle Vue's Peter Collins. PC had recently represented England in the U.K round of the World Team Cup at King's Lynn. Dave Jessup and Michael Lee had both scored 11, Kenny Carter 9, and PC 8 to finish joint top scorers with the U.S.A team on 39 points. Having broken the 'Lynn track record in heat 3 PC went on to beat Kelly Moran in the run-off to clinch 1st place.

He was obviously still in record breaking form as he shaved 0.1 off Chris Morton's 3 year-old Owlerton track record after passing World Champion Bruce Penhall to win heat 1, and he went on to claim a perfect maximum. Only Mark Fiora failed to win a race for the Tigers in a good all-round team effort against the power-packed Heathens who did just enough to go through to the next round of the K.O. Cup. They eventually went on to claim a League Cup & KO Cup double, and second place in the British League behind the Belle Vue Aces.

After failing to impress in the match Eric Gundersen got it together to win the second-half senior final. The second-half races included Andy Smith's first official rides following his 16th birthday. In the 3rd qualifying heat he brilliantly avoided Rob Carter who stopped abruptly in front of him, and he finished 2nd to Robbie Foy and ahead of Julian Parr in the Novices Hurdle.
