With Bernie Persson en-route to Abensberg for the European Final (for which he was the reserve) the Heathens enlisted Sandor Levai as a guest. Colin Gooddy top-scored with 9+1, while the Tigers were hampered by Rick France falling twice, and Bob Paulson having a nightmare meeting on his least favourite track.
Bengt Larsson and Reg Wilson at reserve accumulated 18 of Sheffield's 41 total while the home reserves managed just 5 between them. Arnold Haley was also stretchered off after a heat 13 clash with Howard Cole but by then the points had already been plundered.
