Tonight's debutant

Ben Wilson trapped and never looked like being caught in heat 1. Ellis Perks won from tapes to flag in heat 2 but Alex Wilson passed Tyler Govier on the first lap for another shared heat. Zach Wajknecht gated but Paco Castagna in his first competitive race at Owlerton wasted no time in powering around him entering the third bend. Matt Williamson and Ellis led heat 4 but Arthur powered around from gate 4 and led down the back straight. Ben had too much pace for Paco but Danny Ayers was never troubled by Aaron Mogridge so after 5 races the scores are level.

Josh went wide on the first turns of heat 6 to find the momentum to pass Matt and take the lead. Rob Shuttleworth's third place put the Tigers ahead for the first time. Arthur was untroubled by Zach in heat 7 but Michael Neale and Chris Widman had a terrific scrap for third with the Heathen easing clear on the third lap. Ellis took an easy win in heat 8 and Aaron Mogridge's point leveled the scores again. Paco rounded Matt on the first lap to win heat 9 and Danny was a good third. Josh was untroubled winning heat 10 and Rob took another good point to extend the Tigers lead to four points.

Ben led heat 11 until Arthur powered past into the third bend on the first lap. With the riders well spread Ben took an unforced tumble on the last lap. It seemed to me that his bike bounced back off the air-fence and may be responsible for his fractured pelvis! After a considerable delay the paramedics eventually finished filing their paperwork and Paco powered to a comfortable win over Ellis and Zach. Josh led heat 13 until Arthur powered past on the pits turn en-route to the Tigers first 5-1. Danny powered around the field to lead down the back straight in heat 14. Michael Neale kept nipping at his heels but when he tried an inside pass he forced Danny onto the faster outside line and Danny pulled clear again. Matt led from the tapes in heat 15 with Arthur on his heels and Ellis ahead of Paco. Paco was perfectly placed when Ellis wobbled on the third lap and Arthur wound it up around the pits turn on the third lap and then dived through to take the lead at the start of the fourth.

Josh seems to be over his tonsillitis, Paco looked comfortable on his Owlerton debut, let's see how his pace and gating equate to the Premier League. Congratulations to Arthur on his first ever maximum, but commiserations to Ben whose season is surely over.
