2007 Progaramme The Sheffield Window Centre Tigers kept the scores level in the early stages but the Brummies soon learned how to match us from the gate, all important on a track where passing seems to be very difficult. Ricky wins the battle of elbows with Ulrich Ostergaard on the first turn of heat 1 and slots in behind Joel down the back straight. Ricky strays too far (a couple of feet) from the white line on the second bend of lap two and Ulrich pounces to grab second place. Ricky goes even wider looking for grip and Aiden Collins gratefully accepts third pace. Paul traps well to lead heat 2 with Birko pulling alongside down the back straight. Paul can't have been watching heat 1 as he does the same as Ricky on the second turn allowing Lee Smart up into second place, and Ben Powell wastes little time doing the same on the next lap. André flies from the tapes to lead heat 3 with Jason Lyons passing Emiliano on lap 2 and them sitting tight on André's tail waiting for the slip which never came. Ben Wilson traps and sat nice and tightly on the white line to win heat 4. Invalid Brent Werner, unable to finish any of his three races at Owlerton the previous night due to a twisted knee, blasts around Birko on the second turn and hovers behind Ben waiting for him to stray too wide. Ben Powell goes around Birko out of turn four and it's another shared heat. Jason and Emiliano trap ahead in heat 5. Joel keeps them honest but Ricky is soon left trailing and retires on the third lap. Jason's winning time is a new track record. The deadlock is broken and the Brummies lead by four points.

Ben Wilson trapped to lead heat 6. Ulrich passes Aiden on the second lap but Ben kept it nice and tight to deny him any passing opportunity. Invalid Brent Werner took a flyer to win heat 7. James Cockle was second until André passed him at the end of the first lap, after that he came under pressure from Lee Smart but kept a tidy line to hold onto third place. Aiden Collins trapped to lead heat 8 but Joel Parsons atoned for a poor start by moving from last to second in the first two corners and then harried Aiden all the way to the line. Jason and Emiliano demonstrated what a good pair they are by claiming another maximum in heat 9. Ben Wilson, previously unbeaten, eventually passed Paul on lap 3. André was wearing the black & white in heat 10, and made another blistering start to lead everyone home. Ulrich chased hard but was never in with a chance of making a pass. Brummies lead by seven points and looking confident.

Ricky and Joel show first in heat 11 and Ricky manages to keep it nice a tight for the first time and is rewarded by second place ahead of the crippled Brent Werner. Jason Lyons gets the drop on André in heat 12 and with Ben Powell going around Paul on the fourth turn the Brummies pull back two of the points lost in the previous race. Ricky trapped again to lead heat 13 from Brent Werner. Brent goes too wide allowing Ulrich through into second but Ben is well behind at the back of the field. Emiliano and Ben Powell clear off into the lead in heat 14 ahead of Birko with James Cockle taking a tumble on the fourth turn, landing heavily on his shoulder. Fingers crossed he's OK for Mondays match at Owlerton. Jason Lyons sped away to win heat 15 from the hard chasing Joel Parsons and it looked like being a shared heat until Ulrich Ostergaard's do-or-die attempts were eventually rewarded with a point as he passed Ricky on the outside of the very last bend.

New track, first time many of our lads had seen it, but still far too many silly mistakes from experienced riders. More camber and grip wouldn't go amiss, neither would more elevation for the crowd to improve sight lines. Not cheap either! £14 entry, PLUS £2 for the programme! Eat before you go in though. Signs at the turnstiles state no food and drink can be taken in, and burger and chips will knock you back £4.10. A pint of Tetleys was £2.55.
