2007 Progaramme Ricky and Joel stormed from the tapes to lead heat 1, but Ulrich Ostergaard was obviously much faster and he flew around Joel at the end of the second lap. Birko led heat 2 from Lee Smart while Ben Powell took Paul very wide into the first turn. Paul dived past on the third turn and held off Ben's challenges for a couple of laps until Ben made a 'mare of the third turn and toppled off, jumping quickly back on without stalling. André and James Cockle led heat 3, but Jason Lyons breezed past James on the back straight. Surprisingly Emiliano never looked like getting close enough to challenge James for third place. Heat 4 saw Paul leading by turn 1 with Ben joining him by the second bend, and that's the way it finished with Ben Powell making little impression, and Brent Werner totally disinterested and yards behind at the back. André sped away to win heat 5 from Ulrich, and James rode a tidy line to pass Aiden Collins on the pits turn on the first lap to leave the Sheffield Window Centre Tigers with a twelve point lead.

Ricky and Joel made light work of Lee Smart in heat 6, Brent Werner needn't have bothered. Jason Lyons was nominated for a tactical ride in heat 7, but it was the Tigers pair who led the way. Jason passed Birko on the inside of the third turn, then caught and passed Ben Wilson on the pits turn on the second lap. Emiliano last again. Paul trapped alongside Lee Smart in heat 8 and took the advantage on the first turn while Joel took the high wide line a swooped around the field to lead out of turn two. James Cockle led heat 9 with André joining him on the back straight. It looked as if James was going to follow André's line but he caught a lot of drive on the apex of the third and fourth turns and nearly lost it allowing Ben Powell through into second place on the inside of turn four. James was having none of that and he battled back into second place, but each time the pass compromised his line and Ben was able to regain the advantage, until James took a well controlled line on the third lap which took him back into second place which he held to the line. The crowd loved it! Ricky led heat 10 from Emiliano and Jason. Joel picked up third place with an inside line on the pits turn, but then made a mistake on the third turn allowing Jason back through. Joel passed Jason again on the second turn, lap three after which Jason threw in the towel. Sheffield Window Centre Tigers now have a twenty three point lead.

Ulrich trapped to win heat 11 from Birko and Ben. André led heat 12 and Paul rounded Lee Smart exiting turn two. Jason dived past his team mate on the third turn and gave chase, passing Paul on the inside of turn two on the third lap, much to Paul's chagrin. Ulrich trapped to win heat 13 with Ricky and Ben unable to match his pace. The two James trapped ahead in heat 14 but wily Emiliano passed them both with a tight line exiting turn two. Birko and Emiliano then gave us the best race of the season as they passed and re-passed each other on virtually every bend. It looked like Emiliano was going to get the verdict after a superb third bend on the third lap, but Birko countered with a fence scraping second turn and just edged into the lead on the back straight to claim the win and the crowd acclaim. The big four were nominated for heat 15 but it was something of an anticlimax with the Tigers top two streaking from the gate for an untroubled win.

The score line did not in any way reflect the quality of the racing. Paul commented on how well the track had been prepared, and James was relieved to have got some points under his belt. When congratulated on his excellent ride in heat 9 all he could remember were the mistakes he made, but if he learns from them he'll soon be a firm favourite with the fans.

Let's see how they go at Perry Bar in the return...
